What We Do

OFR collaborates with development staff, ASU’s Office of Research and Sponsored Projects Administration (ORSPA) and university research advancement staff to pursue major gifts from private, independent, family and community foundations in support of priority university initiatives and special projects. Our office works proactively to:

  • Identify funding opportunities.
  • Assist units across the university in identifying and developing promising research projects and programs. Successfully funded programs are multi-year and multi-disciplinary and are matched with foundations whose missions and interests are similar.
  • Manage the ongoing cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of those foundations.
  • Establish and maintain administrative practices that ensure a coordinated and strategic approach to foundation funding.
  • Provide resources, services and background information that facilitate and support all areas of the research community.
