The primary focus area for project management services is “4M” opportunities which require significant effort from a business development and project management perspective. Our objectives are to have a cohesive approach to “4M” opportunities for which ASU is eligible and to manage programs of strategic importance to the Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Affairs.

We are uniquely positioned to improve business processes and support new programs. Our team can help to:

  • Manage projects that improve research and its administration at ASU
  • Share project management experience and best practices
  • Review proposals with specific attention to the management plan
  • Partner with organizations across the university to improve processes and remove barriers for our researchers
  • Create strategies for planning and pursuing funding opportunities based on existing programs
  • Provide access to shared research resources

Project Management Best Practices

Once you have been awarded a research grant or contract, the work and hopefully fun begins. Appropriate planning and management of the research project can not only increase the quality of work on the current effort, but also increase the chance that a follow-on opportunity can be identified and obtained. Our team can provide project management assistance through staffing, mentoring, or training as appropriate.

Project Management is a set of tools that allow for organizing and managing resources in such a way that the project is completed within defined scope, quality, time and cost constraints. These tools can be utilized to improve the likelihood of success of your projects. It provides a framework to better understand and respond to the inevitable changes that occur during the execution of a project or program.

Training in Project Management tools and techniques is available if you would like to build expertise in managing teams, risk management and project planning. These skills will assist you in executing research as well as in your other endeavors.
