Proposal Support

The PRIDE team can assist with all phases of preparing a proposal for either a government or industrial funding opportunity.  From technical writing to budgeting, we provide guidance and training through our own workshops as well as those of partner organizations.  The process of identifying partners, composing a technical narrative and meeting requirements for budgets can be complex.

Our tools, training and expertise can make the proposal submission process more straightforward and accessible.

Expertise

Our staff has experience in managing for-profit and non-profit organizations, product development, project management, fundraising, building collaborative centers, and all aspects of the proposal development and submission process.  The process for negotiating a contract with an industry partner or for applying to a government agency for grant funding is similar, but there are nuances of each that can make the difference between winning and losing on an opportunity.  Our team will use our variety of expertise and skills to help you customize your proposal for the intended audience.

The PRIDE team has deep and broad experience in preparing and winning proposals that will help ASU researchers be as successful as possible in their endeavors.

Collaboration

Collaboration is defined as the act of working jointly. Simple as it sounds, collaboration can be challenging, especially for complex projects. PRIDE can provide tools and knowledge that create an environment that facilitate information-sharing across boundaries to improve research at ASU.

We will provide a collaborative space where the team can build a proposal that meets requirements and has a compelling story. By creating a virtual ‘war-room’ where all required information can be deposited and documentation and budget prepared asynchronously, the team can prepare a proposal more efficiently and completely. These spaces can include team members internal or external to Arizona State University.

If you have found an opportunity of interest and need to find partners at ASU, other institutions or industrial sub-contractors, we can assist in identifying and involving those partners in your project. We have a network of academic and industrial collaborators that are interested in working with ASU in their research endeavors. And, our collaborative space makes it easier to work with individuals inside and outside of ASU.

PRIDE will provide the environment that encourages collaboration and teamwork.

Proposal Development

Proposal development is a convoluted process that spans many organizations and individuals.  We are working to make navigation through the system as easy as possible for researchers.  From developing a technical narrative that captures attention and stands out from the competition to meeting submission requirements and deadlines, we can provide a map to follow before, during and after proposal submission.

PRIDE will lead proposal development efforts for 4M projects and provide the tools and information for others to lead their proposal teams to success!

Project Execution

Once you have been awarded a research grant or contract, the work and hopefully fun begins. It is important that researchers get the right start towards completing the technical and other deliverables of the project.  Our team can provide project management assistance through staffing, mentoring or training as appropriate. Appropriate planning and management of the research project can not only increase the quality of work on the current effort, but also increase the chance that a follow-on opportunity can be identified and obtained.

Project Management & Mentoring

Project Management is a set of tools that allow for organizing and managing resources in such a way that the project is completed within defined scope, quality, time and cost constraints. These tools can be utilized to improve the likelihood of success of your projects. It provides a framework to better understand and respond to the inevitable changes that occur during the execution of a project or program.

PRIDE can provide your project team with mentoring on how to apply project management tools and processes to make project execution more efficient and effective.

Training

Training in Project Management tools and techniques is available if you would like to build expertise in managing teams, risk management and project planning. These skills will assist you in executing research as well as in your other endeavors. Workshops and seminars are offered by PRIDE staff on a quarterly basis. Also, we can refer you to many other training courses offered locally. There are professional credentials available in Project Management that may be a good option for advancing your career.

The PRIDE team is a resource for developing skills and expertise in managing successful projects.

Post Project Strategic Planning

Our team will help you turn one opportunity into many. We provide assistance with building a roadmap for future research that is in-line with funding opportunities and that capitalizes on existing programs. We believe that research groups that have a focused strategy in planning for and pursuing funding opportunities will be more successful at obtaining awards. One of the key factors in proposal selection is the investigator’s understanding of state-of-the-art in their field. By participating in strategic planning, the ability to frame your research proposal within the regional, national and global context is more straightforward.

"Sustainability is vital; the secret is to create a dynamic environment of cascading research activity and projects which build upon each other and generate vitality and opportunity rather than a series of independent actions that need to be repeated each time." – University Research Management, OECD
