Limited Submissions

A limited submission (LS) program is a program/funding announcement where the sponsor restricts the number of applications or proposals an institution is allowed to submit.  The sponsor’s program guidelines place the burden of selection/screening on the institution.

The Process

Announcing the Limited Submission Competitions
» A weekly e-mail is sent to all ASU faculty announcing new LS programs
» A list of current LS programs can also be found here

Internal Application Requirements
» A Limited Submissions cover page that includes the project title and a list of investigators
» 3 - 5 page project summary
» Two-page curriculum vita for each investigator
» A total project budget estimate (ORSPA review is optional; available during standard
business hours)
» A total project cost share estimate, if applicable
» Additional supporting information, deemed relevant by investigator (optional)

The Internal Competition and the Candidate Selection

» All internal applications received on time will be reviewed for consideration
» A review panel will be established for each competition consisting of relevant chairs and deans
» Selection(s) will be based on reviewers' comments in accordance with sponsor's review criteria


Selection Notification and Full Proposal Submission

» Selected candidate(s) will be notified by e-mail
» Selected candidate(s) will be required to confirm intention to submit a full proposal
» If intention to submit is not received, the review panel will recommend a new candidate
» Once confirmation is received, candidates who were not selected will be notified
» Candidates who are not selected may contact Funding Services for assistance in locating other potential funding opportunities

» Reviewers' comments will be shared with applicants upon request, however reviewers' names will remain confidential

» Please note that candidates selected still must complete all regular internal approval processes for such items as F&A waivers, cost share, etc.


Failure to Submit a Full Proposal
» Selected candidate(s)' relevant chair(s) and dean(s) will be notified by the OVPREA
» If time allows, an alternate candidate may be selected

Internal Application Instructions

Interested investigators should submit their internal applications to no later than 11:59 p.m. on the day the internal application is due. Internal applications should include every item as outlined in the Internal Application Requirements above.
